St Ann’s Hospice provides care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses, their families and their carers. All their services are free of charge, which means they have to raise £16,000 per day to continue providing them. The teams of staff are all dedicated and inspirational people who ensure that the best quality of life is maintained for the patient, whilst being there to support the relatives, friends and carers in such desperately sad circumstances. We are delighted to confirm that Hazel and Richard completed the 10km Manchester Midnight Walk/paddle, held on Saturday 16th June 2012. In keeping with the walk to remember theme, Richard and Hazel were walking in memory of Richard’s Father, George Rodgers. Organiser’s advise that more than 2,700 entrants braved the torrential conditions and estimate the event was set to raise around £200,000 for the incredible care and support provided by the carers at St Ann’s Hospice.
Hazel Rodgers, Maintenance Administrator at EPT said, “The atmosphere amongst the walkers was amazing and the warmth of the people soon made up for the pouring rain! There was a real party atmosphere with many of the walkers turning up in fancy dress and bright coloured costumes! It was great to share stories, meet new people and feel like you were your little bit to help such a worthy cause.”
That cause is the St Ann’s Hospice who provides care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses, their families and their carers. All their services are free of charge, which means they have to raise £16,000 per day to continue providing them. Even though we reached our target, the just giving page will remain accessible for a further 3 months from the date of this walk, so If you are able to help with a donation, please follow the link www.justgiving.com/hazel-rodgers
